Bridge Replacement Update

In Aug. - Sept. 2010, the Moosalamoo Association's contractor, Nop Metalworks of E. Middlebury, VT, fabricated and installed two new bridges - one on the Minnie Baker Trail - FT 253 (50' span) and the other on the Leicester Hollow Trail FT - 130 (47' span). See locations marked on the Moosalamoo Association Bridge Replacement Project fact sheet.

Plans and specifications for the replacement bridges were furnished by the US Forest Service. All steel used in the fabrication of the bridges was American-made; and is marked on the bridge. Great care was taken by the crew from Nop's during construction work in Leicester Hollow to protect soil and water resources and fragile plant communities. Green Mountain National Forest staff has also recently completed erosion control seeding and mulch work at the two construction sites.

The Association is also contracting with Nop's to fabricate and install a third bridge - Wilkinson Trail - FT 272.05 (47' span); and complete erosion control practices. This bridge is expected to be in place before the 2010-11 winter sports/recreation season.

In 2009, the Association was responsible for installing two other trail bridges in the region.
